Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how PriceSpy for Shopify ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our Chrome extension.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. PriceSpy operates entirely on your device. We have no servers, no databases, and no backend infrastructure that receives your data.

The extension stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Tracked product data: Product URLs, names, images, and current prices that you choose to track.
• Price history: Records of detected price changes, including old and new prices, timestamps, and percentage changes (capped at 100 entries).
• License key: If you upgrade to Pro, your Gumroad license key is stored locally for validation. This key is never transmitted to any server.
• Preferences and flags: Settings such as notification preferences and onboarding status.

2. How We Use Information

All locally stored data is used exclusively to provide the extension's core functionality:

• Displaying your tracked products and their current prices.
• Detecting and alerting you about price changes via browser notifications.
• Showing price change history and enabling CSV export.
• Validating your Pro license key to unlock premium features.

3. Data Storage

All data is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage mechanism (chrome.storage.local). This data:

• Never leaves your computer.
• Is not transmitted to any external server, API, or third party.
• Is not accessible to us or anyone else.
• Is automatically removed when you uninstall the extension.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained locally until you choose to delete it. You can delete your data at any time by:

• Using the "Clear History" button in the extension popup to remove price history.
• Removing individual tracked products via the extension interface.
• Uninstalling the extension, which removes all stored data.

Price history is automatically capped at 100 entries to prevent excessive storage usage.

5. Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not:

• Sell, transfer, or share any user data with third parties, data brokers, or information resellers.
• Use any data for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes.
• Use any data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
• Transfer data to any external service or analytics platform.

6. Permissions Explained

We request only the permissions necessary for core functionality:

• Storage: To save your tracked products, price history, and preferences locally on your device.
• Alarms: To schedule automatic background price checks at regular intervals.
• Notifications: To alert you via browser notifications when a price drop is detected.
• Host Permissions (all URLs): Required because Shopify stores can operate on any custom domain. The extension needs to access product pages across different domains to extract publicly available pricing information.

7. Website Access & Browsing Activity

The extension includes a content script that runs on web pages you visit. This script:

• Only activates on Shopify product pages (pages containing /products/ in the URL).
• Extracts only publicly available product information: product name, price, currency, discount status, and product image.
• Does not access, read, or store any other page content, form data, passwords, cookies, or browsing history.
• Does not track which websites you visit.

All extracted product data stays on your device and is never transmitted externally.

8. Analytics

We do not use any third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar) inside the extension. We have no mechanism to track your usage or browsing activity.

9. Children's Privacy

PriceSpy for Shopify is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used this extension, please contact us.

10. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

PriceSpy is provided for educational and informational purposes only. While we strive to provide accurate pricing data, we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the extracted information. Users should independently verify prices before making purchasing decisions. We are not responsible for any financial decisions or losses incurred based on the data provided by this tool.
